Krodacia is a distant planet in the Milky Way that is the setting of the Keen 4 mod, The Keys of Krodacia. It is three quarters the size of Earth and is the second out from its star. The majority of the surface is covered in purple grassland, forests of blue leafed trees and jumbo mushrooms, and freshwater lakes. It is home to several intelligent races, most prominently the Krodacians.

Krodacia has access to some technology familiar to both Earth and Vorticon VI which can be seen in the various fortifications, facilities, and residences. Despite these advances, the Krodacians remain largely submerged in the ways of 'magic' and mysticism. This cultural tendency can be observed in the Krodacian temples and aerial cities. During the events of Battle of the Brains, a space station built for genetic experimentation lies in orbit around the planet.

The Krodacians are the dominant race on the planet and divide themselves into two classes: the common Krodacians and the secretive Krodacian Magi. Other creatures of similar and lesser intelligence include the Fat Monks, Magifly, Patsys, and Brombo. With the exception of the Brombo, all of these creatures play a part in Krodacian society.

In The Keys of Krodacia, Mortimer McMire lured Commander Keen here as part of a ruse involving a device known as the Universal Toaster Canon to keep Keen busy while he prepared to destroy the universe.
It is in a faraway corner of the universe, and is mainly Desert-like, with the exception of the Water District near the center of the planet.

Inhabitants
There are various species that live on the planet Calidune, mostly Desert-Based on the surface, however in the water district many are based on water... and cleaning supplies. For more information on all of these, click here.

Topography (the land)
On the western portion of the known surface of the planet, sand covers the land. Major land forms include large dunes, forests of Cacti, and a giant red mountain. The Center of the surface of the planet is covered by massive cone-shaped red rock formations. These are impassible and completely separate the Water Destrict from the Desert. The only way between the two is an underground passage filled with lava. It may be a reference to the underworld- this is especially supported by the level Devil's Cavern. The only way to access this passage is through entrances in some of the Cone formations. The Water District is located on the Eastern portion of the visible surface of the planet. It consists of a large body of water (probably freshwater) that cuts through the desert. Underwater is a massive structure that is likely the working portion of the Water District. To get around this area, elevators are used. Notably, a submarine service runs through the body of water to get to the entrance to the Devil's Cavern. This replaced the satelite used in Keen 6 to get to the Blooglab Space Station.

For more information on these as Levels in the Game, click here.
Buildings and Architecture
There are few buildings on the planet except in the Water District, and these are modeled technollogically, except for the Hydro Palace.

Flora and Fauna
The only real Flora on the planet are cactii and seaweeds. The only fauna is mentioned above.

Hey, the egg is not immortal. If you shoot it once with your neural stunner, it will break and a blue bird will come out! I corrected this in the article page. --Shadow Master 15:46, 4 July 2007 (GMT)
Suggestion- Merge with "Blue Bird"
The egg isn't really a living creature per se, it has no abilities of its own and serves only to spawn Blue Birds. I'd like to suggest that this page be merged into the bottom of Blue Bird, similar to what has been done on some pages in wikipedia where a second infobox exists for it, with its information included in additional subsections. This way the "sub-creature" could be included with the enemy that it goes with and a page wouldn't be wasted on it. Just makes more sense... I won't proceed with moving anything without approval though if we go through with this someone'll need to delete this page. GARGapplesauce 04:08, 16 February 2012 (GMT)
: I think it's separate enough that it still warrants its own page - none of the other creature pages are shared in this way and having two infoboxes would be enough for me to think about splitting it into two pages anyway. I don't think much would be gained by merging them and it would make linking to the egg more difficult. -- Malvineous 23:40, 18 February 2012 (GMT)
:: Well none of the other creatures share this relationship, and to link you just do page#section, not that hard to me (i.e., Music in DITD). Regardless however I'll take your word for it, and will just proceed with editing as usual... Thanks GARGapplesauce 01:04, 19 February 2012 (GMT)
::: Sorry, by linking I meant on category pages, e.g. the egg would no longer be listed in :Category:Keen 4 creatures, which I think it belongs as I consider it a separate creature (and I think many modders would agree!) -- Malvineous 09:24, 19 February 2012 (GMT)
:When being patched the Egg can be made into a different creature, which is why made seperate pages for it and the blue bird on the patching side of the wiki, I've always thought of them as seperate but related creatures, especially gameplay-wise. -Levellass 03:00, 21 February 2012 (GMT)
::::@Lass @Malv Ok, gotcha... I'll just use the same page format on it as all the others then. GARGapplesauce 22:43, 14 March 2012 (GMT)

In The Keys of Krodacia, Mortimer McMire lured Commander Keen here as part of a ruse involving a device known as the Universal Toaster Canon to keep Keen busy while he prepared to destroy the universe.

Hello! GARGapplz here, joined 10/01/10. I have always loved the Commander Keen games even though they're older than i am, amd I've been playing then for most of my life, so of course, I'm a long time fan. In fact, The Secret of the Oracle was the first video game I ever played! (That's saying something.) I like keeping up on stuff in the Keen community, and learning about stuff i didn't know... I enjoy playing fangames, and like to see whats new. Even though there may not be that many fans anymore, that doesn't make these classic games any less amazing!

Also, Feel free to visit my personal Wiki, "Applesauce Wiki", at Wikispaces. You can join my wiki as a member, or create your own wiki for free on the excellent Wikispaces server (/unpaid advertisement).

As of yet I've accomplished nothing in the community, and I'm generally that guy who just hangs around annoying the masses with senseless comments and projects that nobody REALLY cares about. And yet, I've persevered, and I'm working with VikingBoyBilly on my first mod (and hopefully last after THIS experience, though I'm working on another with Gridlock once I'm done.) It is entitled "The Second Biggest Sandwich I Ever Saw!!", and should hopefully be out some time next year.

I'm an avid player of Lemm's NetKeen, although I'm about one of only 4 regulars now, and lose quite often to two of them.

I'm active on the Keen IRC Channel at #pckf irc.foonetic.net/6667. I also watch over a sub-channel where we host NetKeen games, #netkeen irc.foonetic.net/6667.

My Favorite Commander Keen episode is Episode V, The Armageddon Machine. I hate Keen GBC with a passion, though I imagine it could be an enjoyable game had some idiot at ActiVision not slapped a Commander Keen logo on it.

You can feel free to contact me on my talk page, on the PCKF, Keen:Modding forums (there I'm "KEENAPPLESAUCE"), on YouTube (/user/GARGapplesauce), or on either of the IRC channels I've mentioned above.

Dopefish are large, stupid fish that inhabit the Waters of The Shadowlands of Gnosticus IV.

The in-game help text states: The second-dumbest creature in the universe, this creature's thought patterns go "swim swim hungry, swim swim hungry." They'll eat anything alive and moving near them, though they prefer heroes.

Physiology and Behaviour
The Dopefish is an incredibly stupid large green fish that slowly swims the waters within the Well of Wishes. It is a dark green color with small fins and enormous buck teeth. It lunges whenever it comes near commander keen, and then farts once it swallows... it does not, however, harm or attempt to harm and other creature underwater, including the Council Member who it was set in place to guard.

Dangers
These immense fish can swallow Commander Keen in one bite, which of course kills him. Keen can however safely come into contact with the Dopefish when it is not attempting to take a bite.
Blue Birds are creatures found in the Shadowlands of Gnosticus IV. Blue birds hatch from eggs which are often found nearby other blue birds. They can be encountered both prior to hatching and in regular form. These enemies march about the ground, pacing back and forth until Keen comes in range of them, at which point they take off and give chase through the air. They can be temporarily paralyzed with one shot from the Neural Stunner.

The Blue Bird is not mentioned in the In-Game Help text, and thus, there is no text available. "Blue Bird" is not even an official name, as these are ordinarily listed through the help text.

Blue Birds are, as their names suggest, blue birds resembling eagles. They have large blue wings that allow them to pursue Keen aerially, as well as short legs which allow them to patrol the ground while not flying. They cannot be completely stunned, but stop momentarily when hit by a shot, similarly to Arachnuts. If this occurs while the Blue Bird is in the air, it will drop to the ground, and can resume flight once it revives itself.

Dangers
Their resistance to being stunned as well as their maneuverability to virtually any area of the level makes Blue Birds a serious threat. If Keen comes into contact with them at any point, he is killed instantly, with the exception of hitting an unhatched blue bird egg, which will break, releasing the enemy within.
Berkeloids are floating creatures native to Gnosticus IV, specifically the Shadowlands. They float about levels, occasionally hurling large fireballs which become deadly obstacles and take some time to dissipate.

The in-game help text states: This fiery fella is not to be toyed with. He throws big fireballs!

<br style="clear: both;"/>
Physiology and Behaviour
Berkeloids are floating creatures formed entirely of fire. They consist of a large abdomen from which the fire originates, which grows into a narrower head as well as two arms. They have no appendages resembling legs, as they float above the ground. Arachnuts have two large white eyes and no visible mouths. Their arms end in hands which lack apparent digits, as their only purpose is to throw fire which we assume originates from their own bodies.

Dangers
Berkeloids float above the ground, usually near to patches of fire. This ability makes maneuvering around them by jumping an impossibility without the assistance of platforms, and using the Pogo stick near them is hazardous. Contact with the Berkeloid kills Keen instantly. Berkeloids are also unaffected by Commander Keen's Neural Stunner.

The Berkeloid's main form of attack is chucking large fireballs about the area. These stay on the ground for a few seconds before dissipating. If Keen comes into contact with these projectiles while in the air or while they burn on the ground, he is killed.

In The Keys of Krodacia he is introduced as a member of the Vorticon Special Forces sent to Krodacia to help Commander Keen find the keys needed to gain access to the Universal Toaster Canon. Keen is initially reluctant to have Barker around, advising him to stay out of his way. Lt. Barker can be found in two levels: the Mansion, where he reveals to Keen that a swim coin can be obtained in the level Monk's House, and in Mushroom Forest where he is unable to jump out of a pit because it is too dark (a nod to the Vorticon's inability to jump in the dark in Keen 2).

In Dead in the Desert Lt. Barker makes an appearance in the end sequence where he (and Keen's other friends) are in command of the Bean-with-Bacon Megarocket and have come to rescue Commander Keen and return his ship to him.

In Battle of the Brains Lt. Barker plays a key role in establishing the plan to stop Mortimer McMire and appears in the level Elevator Access Station to warn Keen about the terrifying Krodacian Overlords.

Lt. Barker is also one of the 8 playable characters in NetKeen.
Adventures in the BWB megarocket (AIBWB) is a Keen 4 mod created by GARGapplesauce with assistance by Gridlock, patches from Mink and Levellass, and music created by MOM4Evr. The mod is designed to allow the user to pilot the BWB megarocket in place of swimming with the wetsuit, creating a space theme.

Story
After finishing rounds throughout the galaxy searching for anything that might be wrong, Commander Keen is prepared to return to the Earth. On his way home, however, the BWB is hit with a massive meteoroid, smashing many of the heat shields on the bottom of the BWB, making it impossible for the ship to make the return to the Earth. Now Commander Keen must search the far reaches of the galaxy for the remains of the heat shield and returnthem to the underside of the BWB- and all before dinner, too!
Arachnuts are insane, crab-walking green natives of the shadowlands on Gnosticus IV.

The in-game help text states: Insane, green, crab-walking creatures with two dangerous mouths.

<br style="clear: both;"/>
Physiology and Behaviour
The Arachnut is a green creature that crab-walks on its many brown legs. It generally has 8, resembling a spider. On it's abdomen, which comprises most of its body, are its six eyes. They swivel around erratically, and have red irises with no visible pupils. On the top of its abdomen spring its two "heads", which are solely areas for the mouths, one on each head. The heads have short necks.

The arachnut can be stunned, for a few seconds, with one hit from the neural stunner. Despite this fact, it is soon revived, and cannot be stunned permenately.
Dangers
These creatures kill keen with one contact, presumably by biting him. As they cannot be permanately stunned, they pose a very dangerous threat.

Use of cats
I'm not sure on how to better use this kind of cats. We have a "Creature" cat, and a "Keen 1 creatures" subcat. The logical thing for me to do (which I started doing, but halted to ask for opinions), is to categorize a creature only in the "Keen 1 creatures" cat, as it is in itself a subcat of Creature. There is no need to include it in both cats, as it would be redundant. However, including it in both allows one to see all the creatures at once, without regarding which games they are from. I'm not sure on which way to go. Ideas?--Sega381 17:33, 6 September 2010 (GMT)

:Oh, and I think it would be good to rename this cat to "Harmless creatures" or something like that. The current name is not enough to understand what it means, and can lead to confusion. Same with "enemies", should be "Harmful creatures", to avoid using the in-wiki definition of "enemy" and "creature", which is very arbitrary.--Sega381 18:19, 7 September 2010 (GMT)
Battle of the Brains will be the third and final episode of the unofficial "The Universe is Toast" trilogy by Ceilick, with the bulk of the modding done by Ceilick, Mink, and Tulip, and with extensive patching by Levellass. Work on it began shortly after the release of Dead in the Desert. It was released in February 2011.

The story begins immediately where Dead in the Desert left off. After rendezvousing with his friends, who have piloted Commander Keen's Bean-with-Bacon Megarocket, Commander Keen learns of their very important discovery.

In a seemingly empty quadrant of space lies a mysterious space station, a hub between worlds. Keen's friends have discovered that this hub is how Mortimer McMire travels around the universe so quickly and believe it will lead them straight to Mortimer himself!

Unfortunately for Commander Keen, it isn't that simple. He must accomplish several tasks before he can even enter the portal leading to Mortimer. This requires that he travel to three different planets as well as a space station, all located in far flung areas of the universe. Luckily, he can use Mort's portal hub against him...
Getting ready for Ceilick's MOD, Battle of the Brains! The previous two MODs by Ceilick were awesome, and this new one has been much anticipated (well, by me at least :D I don't know about you guys...). I plan to do my very best to get all of the Creature, level (+ walkthroughs), item, and other pages ready when the MOD is finally released. Anyone who wants to help, just make sure that you know and follow the format, templates, and guidelines. Also, anyone who has any information about other awesome MODs (as long as they are safe to download LOL), please tell me and I'll check them out! == New Template ==

I'd like to make a "Imagemap" for the pages Krodacia and Calidune. Would it be possible for someone to add this template to the wiki, or find some way to make it work? For anyone who doesn't know, the Imagemap would allow a visitor to the page to click on a part of the world Map image, where a level entrance is shown, and go to the page for that level instantly. These are used on Wikipedia, and are quite handy... If anyone can do this, or at least give me some info. on it, please do! == Site Revision... ==

I was just curious if it might be possible to put some revisions on the site. My main idea was that we create some standard formats that each type of page has to have, sections, etc. This would make the site a lot more uniform. I could get started on editing some pages. An example would be for levels: Sections could be Descriptions, Mistakes, Walkthrough, etc., in addition to the level box... Right now, different pages all have different sections, and its highly random. If anyone thinks its a good idea, just say the word. GARGapplesauce 03:53, 10 December 2010 (GMT)

: Yes I think this would be a great idea! Might be best to pick one page first (one with lots of info/sections) and "fix" that, then we can discuss if that's the best style. Once we've agreed on that we can proceed with making the rest of the pages look the same. -- Malvineous 07:02, 10 December 2010 (GMT)
::Okay! Great, I think I'll start with a creature page. Probably the bounder. It'll be done soon-ish GARGapplesauce 23:17, 10 December 2010 (GMT)
:::EDIT: Bounder is done- check it out and tell me what you think!!! GARGapplesauce 03:55, 11 December 2010 (GMT)
:::: Looks good - a few suggestions: Saying "click here" is considered bad web design, as it assumes people are browsing the web with a monitor and a mouse which is not always the case - although perhaps this is a moot point as I don't think there is enough content to justify a Keen 4 and Keen GBC version of the creatures shared between episodes. Could it be done by simply pointing out the differences in the text where they exist? Also I'm a little unsure whether it is necessary to have so many headings - the article is almost entirely headings at the moment! I don't think there is enough content to fill out each heading (for example I would expect 1-2 paragraphs of content on a topic before it would be worth getting its own heading.) You might want to brush up a little on wikicode and styling too - horizontal lines are seldom used (especially not two in a row) and there are proper codes to create bullet lists. Otherwise it's a great start and I look forward to the next revision! -- Malvineous 10:21, 11 December 2010 (GMT)
:::::Alright, I'll make some changes. I only separated the pages because we had discussed so above, as there are some differences between them... I'll see, but its your descision ultimately. I'm just here to help! GARGapplesauce 02:38, 12 December 2010 (GMT)
:::::EDIT: Template 2 is out. Tell me what ya' think!! More info, less sections, less lines, GBC included in page. We can delete the GBC page if you like. GARGapplesauce 03:34, 12 December 2010 (GMT)

:::::: Oh sorry I'd forgotten about the discussion with the separate GBC pages. Well the main reason I was against a split is that I don't think there's enough content to create a separate page, but if you think there are enough things to say then by all means have a separate page for the GBC stuff. I wonder whether we should remove the 'diet' section? Most of that stuff is made up, originally to make the articles more interesting, but since it's not really official maybe we should remove it? Same goes for that trivia one with citation needed. BTW you can also frame images with a caption, so you can neaten up that comment about what the Bounder looks like in Keen GBC. -- Malvineous 05:12, 13 December 2010 (GMT)
:::::::Yeah, I know about the frame, but since the image is so small, it cuts off the text. I tried scaling the image up, but it wouldn't work. As for the bounder racing, I wondered where that Garg came from. Same with the diet, since the teeth part can be moved to the biology main section. I can remove the... questionable comments, and we can go on a page-by-page basis for Keen GBC pages, although I think one or the other would help the whole "unity" thing. Your call on that, I guess. Anyway, thanks, and we can hopefully come up with a final template after the next edit. I look forward to getting all of the templates chosen, because I think this will help the wiki a lot. More professional, etc. Thanks again, GARGapplesauce 05:19, 13 December 2010 (GMT)
:::::::: Done, I guess. To your approval, I hope. GARGapplesauce 02:37, 14 December 2010 (GMT)
::::::::: Ok, I've tidied it up a bit and fully separated the GBC version. I'm still not convinced there is enough information to populate the GBC page, but perhaps DHeadshot will have a go - he seems to be the only one interested in that episode ;-) -- Malvineous 01:13, 19 December 2010 (GMT)
:::::::::: Alright, it looks great, and I love the new templates. So are we good to go, working page format? Is editing a go? Am I asking too many questions? :-) GARGapplesauce 03:17, 19 December 2010 (GMT)
::::::::::: Well I'm happy with it if you want to start! Perhaps start with a smaller sample like all the Keen 4 creatures, so we can confirm it will work before getting too far advanced. -- Malvineous 06:11, 19 December 2010 (GMT)
Site Revision...
: Yes I think this would be a great idea! Might be best to pick one page first (one with lots of info/sections) and "fix" that, then we can discuss if that's the best style.
==Physiology and Behaivor==
Bounders are red, ball-like creatures. They have large, connected eyes. These eyes can be opened and closed, or at the least made smaller and larger. They also have two somewhat thick, black, detatched eyebrows which float above their eyes. Bounders lack any visible teeth, which would mame eating difficult. Their diet is unknown, but is assumed to consist of plants and such. They are very tough and can be stood upon and pogoed off of, which often allows Keen to reach higher areas. During the day, they bounce around the planet randomly, assumingly using propulsion- that or they are just that bouncy. It is unknown whether or not they ever sleep, since the games in which they are found both occur during the day.
Dangers
Alone, these creatures can cause no harm to Keen. They do have the uncanny ability to push Keen into hazards, similar to other creatures throughout the series, such as Yorps, Butler Robots, Scrubs, Little Amptons, Koraths, and Blooglets.

In keen GBC, they are unable to push Keen, and therefore involve no risk whatsoever..
:Note: They CAN still be pogoed and jumped upon, but it takes far more precision.
On game engine names
In the modding tools section of the main page, it is stated: "Other (Keen Dreams, non-Keen engines)", but we are all pretty sure Keen Dreams engine and Keen: Galaxy engine are almost the same! Both share the EGAGRAPH and GAMEMAPS format, and the game engine technology such as goplats (minecart in KDR seems to be one), poles, hanging onto ledges, etc. So, in my opinion, the K: Modding tools classification should be fixed as this needs to be discussed before breaking all existing links. There are already three Keen Dreams modding tools, which are unofficial ModKeen 2.0.1 hack by MultiMania, KDRPatch by MultiMania and TED5 by John Romero. --Shadow Master 17:53, 5 July 2007 (GMT)
:The engines are indeed similar, but as far as I'm aware you can't take a Keen 4-6 modding tool (like the original ModKeen for example) and use it unchanged with Keen Dreams. That's why the categories are separate. A Keen4 modding tool will work with Keen5, but not necessarily with Dreams. -- Malvineous 09:29, 10 July 2007 (GMT)
::--Just what do we mean by 'similar' here? Certainly a lot of code is the same in both engines, but there are significant differences, Dreams uses serveal exotic forms of compression for levels and images, has much less advanced Keen movement code (No pogo, simple jump physics), I can't find any music playing code... it reads to me much like a beta of the Galaxy engine, but een games like Wolfenstein 3D use an awful lot of Keen Galaxy stuff. Also, TED5 needs to be run with an additional program (KDLEV) before it will work with Keen Dreams --Levellass 05:13, 13 July 2010 (GMT)
I see that people have been adding Keen GBC creature/item information to the bottom of previous articles if creatures/items with the same name or a very similar name already exists.

In keen GBC, they are unable to push Keen, and therefor involve no risk whatsoever..
:Note: They CAN still be pogoed and jumped upon, but it takes far more precision.
Separate pages for Keen GBC creatures/items with the same name as an original creature?
I see that people have been adding Keen GBC creature/item information to the bottom of previous articles if creatures/items with the same name or a very similar name already exists. However I think they should be separate just like we keep the Vorticon Grunt from Keen 2 and Keen 3 separate and the Lollipop from Keen 1 and Keen Dreams separated. Any takes? --Litude 15:54, 18 June 2010 (GMT)
New Template

Off a cliff. To your death. These robots were built for menial duties, and as the name implies, they probably perform cleaning and cooking duties.

The Yorps provided each bot with a tiny black hat that bounces up and down as it moves. They probably did this to make their servants look cuter. This should tell you quite an awful lot about the Yorp mindset.
These robots are invincible, at least to the Raygun from Mars.
Any takes? --Litude 15:54, 18 June 2010 (GMT)
:This makes sense to me...especially as the GBC equivalents of enemies often have very different behaviors from the original versions (especially as compared to the grunts in Keen 2 and 3.) --StupidBunny 04:17, 19 June 2010 (GMT)
:: I think most Keen fans would rather pretend the GBC version didn't exist, so that's probably one of the worst maintained parts of the wiki - but I'd certainly be happy if I didn't have to see any GBC stuff when I'm browsing the "legitimate" episodes :-) -- Malvineous 14:07, 11 July 2010 (GMT)
::::::::No, Keen GBC is awesome. End of Story. However, I can see why seperating them makes sense since the Vorticons have seperate pages for different games... -- DHeadshot 18:34, 23 October 2010 (GMT)
:::::::::Alright, I guess we'll have to have our own opinions on this- and actually, Keen GBC would have been awesome, had the gameplay actually worked, thats MY problem with it... But either way we are agreeing about separating them, and i sould get started on that if anyone wants. == Wiki headers ==

Should we follow Wikipedia's lead in calling the section headers "Article" and "Discussion" instead of "page" and "discussion"? I think it would make the Wiki look all the more professional. -- DHeadshot 12:02, 12 September 2010 (GMT)
New Template
I'd like to make a "Imagemap" for the pages Krodacia and Calidune. Would it be possible for someone to add this template to the wiki, or find some way to make it work? For anyone who doesn't know, the Imagemap would allow a visitor to the page to click on a part of the world Map image, where a level entrance is shown, and go to the page for that level instantly. These are used on Wikipedia, and are quite handy... If anyone can do this, or at least give me some info. on it, please do! More info on Imagemaps: GARGapplesauce 04:13, 10 October 2010 (GMT)
Site Revision...

::::::EDIT: Template 2 is out. Tell me what ya' think!! More info, less sections, less lines, GBC included in page. We can delete the GBC page if you like. GARGapplesauce 03:34, 12 December 2010 (GMT)

Bounders are red, ball-like creatures. They have large, connected eyes. These eyes can be opened and closed, or at the least made smaller and larger. They also have two somewhat thick, black, detatched eyebrows which float above their eyes.
Alone, these creatures can cause no harm to Keen.
