About the bug in Cave of the Descendants
It's not a level-specific bug. It happens in any level where such a door mechanism in which Keen falls down after being teleported is present. As far as I can remember, those levels would be the Pyramid of Shadows, Pyramid of Moons (?), Cave of the descendants, Chasm of Chills and Pyramid of the Forbidden. However, I don't know what text put in the article to state that, nor I have the time to do that.--Shadow Master 16:19, 18 December 2007 (GMT)

About the exploit/cheat/bug in Pyramid of the Forbidden
Currently, the last bug says, "It is possible to go outside the Pyramid of the Forbidden without using the F10+N clipping cheat." This statement needs more explanation. I think it means that using the clipping cheat, and using this exploit, are both ways to exit the level by pseudo-physically exiting (similar to other levels) instead of by rescuing the janitor. Am I right in this interpretation, and is it true? --ViviFizgig 18:35 09 January 2009 (EST)

This page lists all the bugs, odd behaviours and unexpected actions that have been discovered in Keen 4.

Well of Wishes bug in God mode
Often, when two Dopefish overlap and God mode is activated (this is accomplished by entering the Well of Wishes in Hard difficulty level), the game starts to get out of free memory, and all animated sprites (i.e. bubbles) get stuck in the game screen instead of disappearing after a certain amount of time. This eventually crashes the game in low-memory environments.
Bad grammar entering the Pyramid of Shadows
When entering the Pyramid of Shadows, the entrance text reads "Keen move silently in the Pyramid of Shadows" instead of "Keen moves silently in the Pyramid of Shadows".
Not so Invisible
When you hang on the ledge of the disappearing ice blocks in Miragia, you won't fall down...even if it disappears! So if the blocks start disappearing, quickly grab the ledge of one of them and climb onto it again when it reappears.
Hole in his Head
When Keen is at the top of any pole and facing left, shooting left will display the sprite used for shooting left on a pole, this however is missing a piece of head that is normally covered by the pole, but not at the pole top.
Blue Bird of unhappiness
If you can lure a flying Blue Bird to the right edge of a one tile thick platform (and sometimes walls or thicker platforms) it will get clipped into the platform and not be able to chase after Keen (God mode helps at least for practice.) It can be freed only by stunning it.
What Lies Beyond
Keen can peek at and past the lower level border under certain circumstances, viz that if the game is saved while he is standing on a moving platform near the level bottom, the screen will be recentered after saving (And whenever the game is loaded.) so that he can look down and see not only the level border, but also a bunch of scrambled, random graphics tiles 'outside' the level, probably caused by reading memory out of the tile array, resulting in random garbage left by other programs or procedures of the game itself.

The only place this can really be seen is beneath Crystalus, but it works in any other level if platforms are placed right.
Well of Wishes clipping error
In the Well of Wishes, if Keen is allowed to settle on the ground below the arch/doorway into the Council Member, the clipping misbehaves and Keen sinks into the floor.
Cave of the Descendents unexpected end
In the Cave of the Descendents, go to the lower leftmost part of the map, where are two elevators. Go down to the second one where has a door that teleport you to another on the top of the map. Enter the door then release the up key
and immediately press it again and keep-it pressed. It will make Keen enter to door in the top and consequently exit the level. For a video showing how this bug happens click here!
Chasm of Chills door trick
This bug works in a same way the Cave of the Descendents unexpected end -bug does. In the very beginning of the map, fall down from the edge and head right. You'll find three small chasms. Drop in the middle one, and jump trough the wall at the right. Keen will fall right in the front of a door. Press the up key to enter the door, then release the key and immediately press it again. Keep it pressed. Keen will then enter a door mid-air, in another room, and complete the level.

Teleporting Keen
In Lifewater Oasis when using the F10+J Jump Cheat, if you make Keen hit the ceiling in different places and at different angles, Keen will disappear and randomly reappear somewhere else within the level. In fact, there are at least two places (possibly more) in the ceiling if you make Keen jump in these places at the right angles, he will actually reappear in the water where the 5 Lifewater Flasks are. The interesting thing is that one of these places is right above the highest structure where the big door and the Thundercloud is. If the game designers would have created Keen to jump higher or designed the structure to be closer to the ceiling, then it would be possible to take advantage of this bug and get to the Lifewater Flasks without cheating. Unfortunately, once you are there, it is impossible to get back out without cheating. This bug only works when you are at the outside of the level. It does not work in the lower cavern.

Outside the Pyramid of the Forbidden
It is possible to go outside the Pyramid of the Forbidden without using the F10+N clipping cheat. At the beginning of the level as you are going towards the top of the pyramid where the first Lifewater Flask is, there is a green Dart gun above the flask and there is a small gap in the wall just above the gun. Using F10+G God Mode You can grab onto the ledge where the gap is and it will push you off the screen and out of the pyramid. Then you save your game and then reload the game you just saved. It will show Keen standing outside the pyramid.
The Pogo stick, or 'pogo' for short, is a toy Keen finds on Mars (in Keen 1), keeps, and uses throughout the series. Keen can pogo ('jump with the pogo stick') several times his own height, considerably higher than without it. It is significantly more useful than an ordinary pogo, being able to bound to impossibly high heights.

The pogo can be collected in two Keen 1 levels: the Pogo Shrine, and the Vorticon Commander's Castle. In the other episodes Keen doesn't need to collect the pogo anymore, he has it right from the beginning. However, in Keen Dreams there's no pogo at all due to Keen being in a dream, as opposed to travelling and bringing the pogo with him as in the other games.

In Keen 1, in the Pogo Shrine level, a sign near it has the message BEHOLD THE HOLY "POGO" STICK written in SGA. However, the word 'POGO' is written in the Roman alphabet. The holy pogo stick is worshipped by Yorps and Gargs (though mainly Yorps) as a religious icon, or possibly idol.

A few tricks can be performed with the pogo:
* Impossible Pogo Trick
* Pogoing backwards
* Jump through ceilings. If you are standing in a space two tiles high, and activate the pogo and jump quickly enough, you will shoot through the ceiling provided it is only one tile thick. This is a nice alternative to the "No Clipping" mode which does not exist in the Vorticon Trilogy. This trick is made much easier in God mode, and in God mode the trick can be performed in spaces much larger than two tiles high, by ensuring that Keen has jumped close enough to the ceiling before activating the pogo.

This level features a Poison Slug, a Bounder, a Mimrock and a Skypest. It has the Cave of the Descendents background, and a grass and earth floor.

Since the warp cheat only gives you access up to level 18 (and this is level 19) the only known way to access the high score level in Keen 4 is by recording a demo (which will let you load up to and including level 21 - which won't work of course, because there's no level data beyond level 19.)

ViviFizgig: New bug entry

This page lists all the bugs, odd behaviours and unexpected actions that have been discovered in Keen Dreams.

Jumping through dangers
When you find fire or radioactive floors, you can pass them unharmed by holding the jump key when hitting the ground (you can hold the key several seconds before landing, so no hurry) -- and Keen will bounce up normally. Remember to release the jump key between every bounce and then press it again before landing again.

Climbing up nothing
If you are on a pole and move down on to a Melon Minecart, it will drag you along still in the climbing position. If you then proceed to move upwards, you will escape the mine cart but be climbing an invisible pole. You can climb as high or as low as the original pole goes, passing straight through any solid tiles along the way, though enemies will still kill you. The only place this can be done is alongside the right edge of The Melon Mines, as it is the only place in the game with both Mine Carts and poles nearby.

Quick level exits
If there isn't a wall in your way, go against the right edge of the level, and die! If Commander Keen's head goes through the right edge of the screen, you'll complete the level (and if you miss, it's your problem).

Dropping enemies
It is possible to make the Squash jump off of cliffs out of the level, thus 'killing' them; this can be done especially well in Squash Swamp. In Horseradish Hill you can 'kill' all five Carrot Couriers by shooting them as they jump cliffs.

It is also possible to stun enemies with Flower Powers so that they fall of logs, lillypads or other 'one way up' tiles. Any enemy can be manipulated in this manner. The trick is to shoot them just as they reach the very edge of the platform; the stunned sprite has different clipping and will fall off of the platform. For some other enemies, the sprite will only fall off after it has reverted back to its original shape. This can be used to 'push' several enemies off of the bottom of the level, though with difficulty. The simplest way to do it is to stand under the platform edge and throw Flower Powers up into the air just past the platform's edge. It is also possible to stand on the platform and shoot an enemy off, though you have to have good timing. A third possibility is to cheat and stand at the platform's edge with God mode and toss Flower Powers into the air. With this, you can even force them to fall off the level boundaries. However, this may eventually crash the game due to memory leaks if too many sprites are 'killed'.

Duplicating Flower Pellets
Sometimes, when rapidly firing your Flower Power against a wall close enough to bounce the pellet back to you (and going back into your inventory), it will count the pellet twice. This is hard to duplicate, but could potentially help you out in a tight situation.
