Been whined at by Lemm and assorted people, apparently the term 'sprite' applies to graphics only and the terms I should have been using for all the 'sprite' patch stuff is 'actor'; is there any way to systematically change the term 'sprite' in patch page titles (and maybe text) to 'actor'? : It is possible to do a bulk search and replace across pages, but the pages themselves will need to be renamed manually. [[User:DHeadshot]] has access to do this, perhaps you can ask him? Hello Malvineous. As I mentioned on [[Talk:Vorticon Mods#Missing_Download_links|Talk:Vorticon Mods]], I still have a few abandoned mods/level packs by different people that are not available for download anymore (at least according to the wiki). Various mods and packs have been directly uploaded to shikadi.net/wiki/, thus I sent one mod to Tulip who contributed a lot to the Vorticons Mods page. He replied two weeks ago, but since then no download has been added for "Mars Kingdoms", so I assume he is just too busy for editing. The mail includes demos of Redemption, Lord of the Rings (two demos), and Mars Kingdoms. There is also a beta of Bp's "mod" Marooned on Mars Forever, but I think it seems more like a level pack (no changed graphics, no patches and only minimal edits of the story text). I have played a number of mods that are extremely difficult, and I quickly reach a point where I am prevented from going any further (due entirely to my lack of skill.) Normally I could use the cheats to get around the difficult part and keep going to explore the rest of the mod, but when the cheats are disabled I can't do that and I'm forced to give up and quit. Then of course your months of hard work go entirely unseen, which to me seems worse than someone at least seeing everything, even if it is in fast-forward. Once or twice I've gone editing the patch file to put the cheats back in, but most of the time I've just assumed the rest of the game is also beyond my skill and given up. ::::::I agree with you two. With brief playthroughs of this mod series, the games feel like genuine ID games. Disabling the cheats is a bit of a hair-brained move (no offense) because, well, players with little skill (like myself) can't explore around, and as a consequence, they become disillusioned with playing. IMO, cheats add a whole lot to replay value. Take Burning Monkey Solitaire, for example. That game has, again, IMO, the moxt expansive amount of ways to cheat, and that allows you to win a solitare game without endless undo's, redo's, and "WHAT DID I DO WRONG?!" moments. Maybe one beats a rather hard game with cheats, than tries again with no cheats and gets it. Pardon me for the odd example, but it explains my point. As Malv said, "disabling the cheats is only going to exclude some people from being able to enjoy a mod." Celick, I thank you and the team for re-enabling the cheats in BotB. And, on an unrelated note, this episode has one of the most dramatic conclusions to a Keen game ever, if not the most dramatic. Shockshund

'''Shockshunds''' are three legged energy-dogs used as guards by the [[Shikadi]], found aboard the [[Omegamatic]] in [[Keen 5]]. They are loyal and fierce, if small (only a foot tall) and can jump surprisingly large distances. They are capable of shooting "energy barks" at intruders and are lethal to touch.

It is claimed that "their spark is worse than their bite", although worse than either of those is their behavior of pouncing rapidly towards their target, an attack which is difficult to dodge, especially in confined spaces or when more than one Shockshund are present. Fortunately, they are weaker than their masters, taking only a pair of shots to stun.

The official help says:

Their name is a play on the [[Wikipedia:Dachshund|Dachshund]] breed of dog and is thus a portmanteau of "Shocks" (implying their energy-based nature) and "hund" (the German word for dog).

Fleex

'''Fleex''' are large cyan aliens found in [[Keen 6]]. They are notable for having five eyes and one ear. Fleex are nearly blind, needing dark glasses to keep out sunlight from their underused and atrophied eyes. They get about by listening to the movements of other creatures, though occasionally they will remove their glasses to look for prey. When they spot some prey, they will move toward it. They are quite tough, taking four shots to stun.

Fleex are relatively intelligent and thus found in buildings and scattered randomly around the planet. They are dangerous to approach, as their hands are three-clawed clampers/pincers that are capable of shredding anything they touch. Having no feet, Fleex must crawl around on a number of octopus-like legs.

The Fleex are responsible for designing all the buildings and machines on [[Fribbulus Xax]], but sadly, the [[Bloog]]s are the ones that built them as is readily apparent in the poor construction work.

The Fleex also appear in [[Keen GBC]], where they differ markedly from their Keen 6 counterparts, being smaller and dark orange, with only two eyes and normal hands. They are still deadly to the touch and are more intelligent. It is explained that their long time in basement labs have caused their loss of eyesight and large ear as compensation. The ear is not visible and the number of eyes reduced in the GBC version however, suggesting that the Fleex may have split into two related species, the five and two eyed.

The '''Big-n-Beefy Burger''' is an item in [[Keen 3]]. It is a burger with three buns, similar to [[wikipedia:Big Mac|an Earth Big Mac]]. It is doubtful the "Big-n-Beefy-Burger" is the real name of this snack, as [[Vorticons]] do not have cows, and hence, do not have beef. On the other hand, perhaps they adopted the recipe from [[Earth]] as similar snacks are found there.

This burger is similar to the [[Hamburger]]s found on the [[Vorticon Mothership]], though they are more caloric, probably the reason they cannot be taken on military missions.

The in-game help lists Big-n-Beefy Burgers as worth 500 points, but collecting one only adds 100 points to the score. If they were worth 500 points, it would be similar to the points of the [[Hamburger]]s at the Vorticon Mothership, so probably the actual points is a [[Keen 3 Bugs#Mixed points|mistake]] in the game (which was rushed in other ways, too).

This level is the one with the most [[Foob]]s in the game (20), which could earn it the name ''Foob City'' or ''Foob Caves''. It may also be seen as a remote training facility for young [[Youth]]s, as the island is not easily accessible, and the only construction it has is the [[Vorticon]] school at the top. The only Vorticons in the level are the Youth and their [[Vorticon Woman|teachers]] in the school.
This level has two exits, one that can be reached near the entrance, but only with the [[Impossible Pogo Trick]], and another one near the end. It is not easy to die in this level, as besides the Vorticon Woman, the only things that kill [[Keen]] are some pools of [[Keen 3 Hazards|water]] and a couple of [[Keen 3 Hazards|stalactites and stalagmites]]. If Keen misses the first exit, he can easily get to the second one just by falling to the bottom. However, to get the most points, Keen should go down slowly, investigating all the winding tunnels, as it is not easy to go back up once he reaches the bottom (only using the Impossible Pogo Trick, and some hidden, dark ledges), and some parts cannot be accessed again.

This is the level with most points in the game (162,000), mainly because there are twenty-four [[Stuffed Toy VortiNinja]]s in the level.

This level is only accessible by using [[Messie]] from the [[Vorticon VI#Islands, areas and teleporters|Island of the Grand Intellect]].

In [[Keen 3 Versions|version 1.0]] of this game, the top of the mountain with the school [[Keen 3 Bugs|was unreachable]]. This was fixed in version 1.31.

Hey there! I'm wondering if there's a way to change the <'patch'> tags; the point being, they don't really *do* anything at present. They look colorful, but aren't informative; three colors, code, comment and %patch; we already know what those are, coloring them doesn't really add much.

What I would like is something that would automatically grey comments (hashed lines, that part at least is useful) but also allow highlighting of bits of code, I've found that two (Or in a pinch one) different font colors make patches a lot easier to explain and it is a bit tiring to have to place font tags all over the place.

The reason is that they are classed as "bot" edits, so they don't show up in most of the change logs that everyone keeps an eye on. I only learnt this a couple of days ago, which is why a whole bunch of my edits are missing from the 'recent changes' page (unless you choose to show bot edits.) I don't want a repeat of that! These [[Zitto Candy Bar]]s can be found in [[Vorticon VI]], mostly hidden in city buildings. Their brand might be somehow popular amongst [[Youth]]s, as they are usually close to large amounts of this candy.

This bars are similar to the more generic [[Candy Bar]]s aboard the [[Vorticon Mothership]], which are probably more targeted to soldiers.

The in-game help lists Zitto Candy Bars as worth 100 points, but collecting one adds 500 points to the score. If they were worth 100 points, it would be similar to the points of the [[Candy Bar]]s at the Vorticon Mothership, so probably the actual points is a [[Keen 3 Bugs#Mixed points|mistake]] in the game (which was rushed in other ways, too).
