The Second Ice Shrine is level number fifteen in Keen 1. The shrine itself is very small, and not directly protected by any Martian. However, most of the level consists of a slightly frozen and long building, full of Martians, before the shrine.

This level is full of fall-through bricks, which seem identical to regular bricks. Also worth noting is the 'trick exit' in this level. It can be found near the very beginning of the level. As Keen walks towards it, he suddenly falls through cracked bricks in the floor. It can be reached, but only through God-mode.

Besides that, the level is fairly linear, though keycards have to be collected, and some forth-back trips need to be done to open the blue and red doors. In the level's current state, the green and yellow keycards serve no purpose (as there is no yellow door and the only thing behind the green door is the yellow keycard).

There is a message in this level which is displayed when the player touches the statue of a Yorp. The message is:

You cannot kill the Vorticon Commander directly.


In this and other ice levels, such as the Ice City, the First Ice Shrine and the Vorticon Commander's Castle, there are two kinds of slippery surfaces: white blocks, which are slippery when walked upon but can Keen can still be controlled; and ice blocks, where Keen looses control unless he jumps off the block. In this level, only ice blocks can be found.
