Hi, everyone. This is my talk page. For any thing you can contact me here DarkAle (talk) 12:09, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

About linking graphics to mod pages

So I noticed that you are manually linking items which are Keen 5 related to your mod. This is not how it works. First, the wiki comes with an automated linking system. So you don't have to do that manually. And second this item is Keen 5 related. You may have used it in your mod but it is not originated to your mod. In a sense you cannot claim Keen 5 items to be yours. However if you would have created your own items they would surly link to your own mods. For instants if you click your level maps you will notice that they do link to the respected mod page. So please to not attach such links manually.

I do that because in The Ultra Omegamatic wikipage said "No images of this mod's items have been uploaded yet!". I wanted to remove that writing and the solution that came to my mind was this
DarkAle (talk) 08:45, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Ah, I see what you were up to. But this is actually not the way it is done. Let me handle this real quick...
If you go into edit mode of your mod, you can see what I have changed to make this work.
Also we decided not to create info pages on every single item anymore like you just did with your "Blue Vitalin". The reason for this is to keep the wiki as clean as possible. A page for a new mod: yes. Pages for single items: no.
You can however add this missing info right into your modding page.

Thanks. Now I know all these info, I can create a good wikipage for my mod in future.
P.S. I am also doing a version 2 of the Ultra Omegamatic DarkAle (talk) 20:10, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
I'd like to point out that there's a template used for items left unmodified: Template:OriginalItemInMod. Though, I don't know if it's worth using if the mod only changed like one or two items. The problem is that if you upload items of one kind, but not both, you'll still get the "No images of this mod's items have been uploaded yet!" message. Grandy02 pointed this out before (link) but nobody has fixed it yet. I wonder if Malv knows how. Quinton (talk) 20:54, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

About internal / external download links, versioning and moving mods

I've noticed that you've changed a couple of things over here. There are some things I'd like to point out.

a) Please do not delete/blank out older download versions that inform about mods or tools. This kind of information is substantial for a wiki like this.

b) Please do not link to external hosting servers as we cannot rely on the span of life of their services. Also files must be monitored by admins before they get uploaded. So, please show some patience until an admin uploads the respected files in question.

c) Do not move mods in another category out of the blue. Referring to the description of the The Ultra Omegamatic's page it is still not clear which substantial changes make this project a full mod more than a levelpack.

d) About versioning: Within a given version number category (Major.Minor.Patch), these numbers are generally assigned in increasing order and correspond to new developments. The new unique version number of The Ultra Omegamatic indicates a significance change. Again, the wiki text is missing info about the assessed significance that justifies the procedure of incrementing a major version number. It is still unclear what the main changes besides a couple of graphic updates are.

e) Please do not push admins to upload or update certain aspects of the wiki. They do know their jobs and monitor what needs to be done. They have and will take care of the all aspects of the wiki. Please remember that there are a couple of things on the waiting list which also need to be taken care of. Everything will be done in due course.

That all said, please check your previous edits and undo and fix the things I have pointed out.

First, you forgot to sign your comment
Second, I put the media fire link because I don't know how to upload a new RAR file on Shikadi.net
Third, I will do all of the things you said me. DarkAle (talk) 10:57, 9 September 2020‎ (UTC)
Note that only bureaucrats and administrators maintain the rights to upload files to the KeenWiki server. Which means that you need to be a bit patient until your updates will be uploaded here. You must know that as a standard routine files get tested beforehand to prevent from having possibly malicious links and files. So again, please remove all redirecting links to external services as we cannot make sure that hosting servers like "mediafire" guarantee the integrity and endurance of uploaded files.

About image uploads

I would like to remind you to read the KeenWiki:Guidelines with care: "Screenshot extracts such as images of a single creature, should be double-sized." Also please make sure to add an alpha channel for transparency to your PNG images. This is to make the background of item or creature images appear transparent.

With this information in mind I would like to ask you to update the images you have uploaded at September the 14th and 15th.

Also please do not upload images to the wiki which already exist like the The_Armageddon_App_-_Keg_o'_Vitalin.png which is just an exact copy of the original Keen 5 Keg_O'_Vitalin.png. Same goes for the "Fruit Loops" and possible other uploads. If it is really needed to add information about not modified objects you can always link existing images instead.

Ah, sorry about the item images. I forgot to upload them in double dimensions--DarkAle (talk) 18:56, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Also I would like to tell you that I don't know how to give transparency to the images--DarkAle (talk) 19:52, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Which graphics editor are you using to modify images?
As far as I know MSPaint can't really handle transparency layers. But other graphics editors like Paint.net, GIMP or Photoshop (just to name a few popular programs) can certainly do so.
-- Nisaba (talk) 07:20, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

I use MSPaint. I will download another tool to use for the wiki. Don't worry--DarkAle (talk) 08:16, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

About organizing items

For adding items to a wiki page please use the Item List Template like so: {{ItemList}}. This is because like for a year or so we decided to stick with this new layout to standardize certain aspects of the wiki.

-- Nisaba (talk) 18:22, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

I didn't do it like this for your last message about The Ultra Omegamatic items--DarkAle (talk) 18:58, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, I know... this is a bit confusing, isn't it?! So, for that one item over there at The Ultra Omega. it was just a workaround to avoid the info box which was saying "No images of this mod's items have been uploaded yet!". This happend because you need at least a couple of items listed. Else the template is interpreting the list as incomplete. An admin might need to address this "bug" at some point. Until then we just have to content ourselves with that workaround.
As the The Armageddon App comes with a number of modified items the mentioned template above ({{ItemList}}) should be favoured.

About fixing template values

I'd like to ask you to please pause editing the info boxes. Since you've just recently joined the KeenWiki, you may not know about certain discussions happening behind the scenes. Allow me to briefly inform you about this. Those infobox errors you've addressed in your previous edits are a by-product of the latest major update that has yet to be revised. So it is not about exchanging the values, but about updating the template itself.
As mentioned above, there is already a discussion ongoing about how to handle certain aspects of those templates in question. In other words one or two template related issues might need some overhaul. Until a decision has been made, I'd like to ask you to please do not undertake any further infobox fixes.
-- Nisaba (talk) 20:27, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

You could have warned me first since your talk page contains this. Also I saw that you made the same message to CHOCOLATE MILK and you only had to write to him "you recently joined the wiki" while I signed up 4 months ago. Anyway thanks for the warning
OK, misunderstanding: The aim of my last message was to inform you, not to criticize you. I'm sorry if I didn't make this clear. Those updates I've been referring to happend round about March 2019. In relation to that time period both of you are novice to the wiki scene. Of course you couldn't have known about certain discussions. And that's just fine.
Yeah, you are right, I have those reminder links attached to my talk page. And indeed, those topics need to be addressed. But some of them in a slightly different way. As mentioned before it's not about changing values but the structure of the templates. We need to find fixes which suite multiple requirements, but at the same time comply with a standardized norm. Under the hood the update in early 2019 brought some incompatibilities which require some closer structural inspections.
-- Nisaba (talk) 22:49, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for the advice --DarkAle (talk) 08:41, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
