Arachnu are described by the game manual as:

Insane, crab-walking creatures that hold their dangerous mouths high in the air. |
They are found on the Shikadi World and, since they are blind, will walk rapidly and randomly until they find something to snack on.
It is not known how closely the Arachnu are related to the Arachnuts found in the Shadowlands; they are similar in name, nature and appearance, but have only one mouth and no eyes. It is quite possible that they are a related species, since it appears that the Shikadi World and Shadowlands have exchanged species many times.
