Cactoids are a race of mobile cacti that inhabit the sunny parts of Calidune. Their source of movement is their tentacled feet-analogues, used to climb hills, etc.
From the Official Help File: Another common desert creature, the cactoid wanders the desert dunes in search of prey.
The Cactoid also appears in Aliens Ate My Babysitter ...Again, where they have the same behavior.
