A Little Ampton in Keen 5

Little Amptons are enemies found in Keen 5. They are small purple robots built by the Shikadi to repair, monitor and adjust various machines on the Omegamatic without their direct involvement.

They spend their time looking for machines that need adjusting, monitoring or repair, and carrying out these tasks. To aid them in their work, a number of poles are available that they can slide up or down to reach various machines. Although as worker drones they are harmless in general, they slide fast enough along these poles that they will kill anything in their way. They are delicate and easily stunned by a single shot, at which time the word "OH" can be clearly seen on their "faces" (strangely, not written in Standard Galactic Alphabet, but in Latin letters).

The official help says:

This purple fellow slides up and down poles and works on his computer terminals. Don't be on a pole he's on, 'cause he slides up and down quickly!

For the origin of the name, see Keen 5 Easter eggs.

Appearance in Keen GBC

On the Shikadi World in Keen GBC there exist a number of robotic beings in the Shikadi cities called Little Amptons. They are built differently to the Keen 5 versions and appear to be a simple prototype. (Or, possibly, of Shikadi invention, the Omegamatic Amptons being enhanced by the Gannalech.) They are small, orange and cube-like, with no limbs. They do not fiddle with switches and are believed to be nothing more than menial workers. They are however, stronger, being unstunnable and faster. Despite being a box, they can still climb poles and will knock Keen away if he comes in contact with them (though they won't kill him).

The game manual describes them as the following:

This little fellow slides up and down poles and works on his computer terminals. Don't be on a pole he's on, 'cause he slides up and down quickly!
