Is there really only one Pea Pod in the entire game??? -- Malvineous 11:53, 1 July 2007 (GMT)

Yep. I too was surprised about it, but so it seems -- I just went through every level to see. :) I had never paid attention to that and had false memories of seeing them in other places. --KeenRush 14:48, 1 July 2007 (GMT)

Is it an enemy or a creature?

Apparently, the difference between them is 'can it kill you' (this is according to the description on the category pages)

If the pea pod from Keen Dreams is included as a 'harmless creature' because it doesn't kill you on contact, shouldn't tank robots and meeps? Technically there is no difference between these three: harmless sprite that spawns lethal sprites. Note that this comment is mostly made "contrapositively" - I think that peapods should be 'enemies' just like tankbots and meeps, and the "harms Keen?" text should stay 'not directly'. Currently pea pods are in both the 'creature' and 'enemy' categories, which is kind of contradictory. CK Guy 19:00, 1 March 2008 (GMT)

I guess the difference is that both Tank Robots and Meep "fire" at you, where as the Pea Pod only "accidentally" harms you by producing an entirely different creature. Yes, it could go either way. I have no problem with making Pea Pods enemies only, but I still think that technically they could be considered as creatures - if someone made a patch to stop the peas from killing Keen, would that change your idea of whether the Pea Pod is lethal or not? If so, I think you're not being specific enough - the effect of one actor (the Pea) should not change the classification of an entirely different actor (the Pea Pod.) Gunshots (in the case of Tank Robots and Meep) aren't really different actors, they belong to the original one. -- Malvineous 06:36, 2 March 2008 (GMT)
Ah, we're getting into moral issues. I guess I see your point about the difference between pea pods and other projectile-firing enemies. But what is someone changed the tankbot's shots so they froze you instead of killed you? (Joke. Mostly.) But what I would want to do here is make the 'Harms Keen?' say 'Indirectly via Pea Brains' because I didn't see any other pages that say 'indirectly' but not via what. I guess I'm fine whether the pea pods go into either the 'creature' or 'enemy' category, I'm just not happy that they are in both, because of the mutually exclusive definitions. -- CK Guy 15:18, 2 March 2008 (GMT)
If someone changed the tankbot's shots so they froze you instead, you wouldn't suddenly reclassify the Garg to a harmless creature - so whether Peas are lethal or not shouldn't really affect the classification of the Pea Pod. I think the reason it was added into both Creatures and Enemies was precisely because of this blurred classification - the Pea Pod itself doesn't hurt you and technically doesn't shoot at you, so it's a creature, but because it creates lethal objects it was decided to include it as an enemy because having it around is pretty dangerous. Maybe you should bring this up for discussion at the PCKF... -- Malvineous 22:11, 2 March 2008 (GMT)
"so whether Peas are lethal or not shouldn't really affect the classification of the Pea Pod" This sounds like a good reason why it should not be in 'enemies' then. Oh well, I guess you're the boss here, I don't think it's really worth opening up a big discussion on the PCKF. I updated the 'Harms Keen?' entry on the infobox, so I guess it's fine now. -- CK Guy 04:39, 3 March 2008 (GMT)
Yes, I think it ended up in 'enemies' as merely a convenience for anyone looking for a list of dangerous creatures. And if the PCKF can have conversations about who would win in a fight between a dinosaur and Robo Red, I don't think discussing this would be a problem :-) -- Malvineous 11:12, 3 March 2008 (GMT)
