I think that this should be moved to "Vorticon Railgun",please.--Xterra1 02:59, 3 July 2007 (GMT)

Why? You'll need to provide a reason. Ideally proof from one of the Keen games that this spelling is incorrect. -- Malvineous 12:02, 3 July 2007 (GMT)
In "Beyond the Pogo"'s Keencyclopedia (not a typo,Malv,I'm American) it's called "Vorticon Railgun"! Also on commander-keen.com it's spelled that way.--Xterra1 15:09, 3 July 2007 (GMT)
BtP isn't anything official perfect guide to Keen. It's another fan site, as is commander-keen.com. You shouldn't trust those as errorless references. And about this subject, I can't find this name anywhere (although it's probably somewhere), so can't say what is wrong or not. --KeenRush 23:22, 3 July 2007 (GMT)
A vote to move the article? All in favor contact me,all against talk here. I'll be watching.--Xterra1 03:21, 4 July 2007 (GMT)
Hmm, you're right, it doesn't seem to be given a name at all in the game - so where did this name come from then? -- Malvineous 11:14, 4 July 2007 (GMT)
IIRC, Levellord used that name in one of her mods. I have not read it elsewhere, I believe.--Shadow Master 14:25, 4 July 2007 (GMT)
I tried to look for the correct name in the games, game's story, Cheat Sheet, and I've found nothing. The closest ones are "ray gun", "pistol" and "Vorticon Hyper-pistol", neither of which is clearly stated. "Ray gun" is the general name for all guns in Keen Vorticons; "pistol" is the name used in the Keen 3 information window, but it is the same name used in Keen 2, and the gun in that other game is officially called Vorticon Hyper-pistol; and in Keen Dreams, the Vorticon Hyper-Pistol is mentioned, and one could asume that it was the last one Keen used, but it is not certain. It is different from the Vorticon Hyper-Pistol in Keen 2, so it's confusing to call it with the same name, even more if it's never called that way officially.
In the BtP site, it is actually called "Vorticon Rail-Gun", NOT "Vorticon Railgun", so I'm not even sure why this discussion started. In any event, I have no idea where the owner of BtP got that name from, but it's the only name really given to it.Sega381 03:43, 5 July 2007 (GMT)
This discussion was started because somebody thought it was going to be a good idea to rename the article. In my opinion, this should not be done till somebody finds the actual, official name of this weapon in Keen 3, even if we have to rename it to something like "Pistol (Keen 3)". Not sure who we should ask... Tom Hall? --Shadow Master 13:40, 5 July 2007 (GMT)
How about that one-shot ammo pack for the railgun? Is that different?--Xterra1 16:30, 6 July 2007 (GMT)
Speaking of Rail-Gun names, I think the thing about it being called the "HyperPistol Version 2" should be gotten rid of. I've never seen that name anywhere. I don't mind stuff in the article about different names, but that just doesn't seem to fit. --Genius314 17:08, 6 July 2007 (GMT)
On the basis that a rail gun is a Projectile weapon and this is an Energy weapon, should this gun even be refered to as a rail gun at all? Surely it's a variation on the ray gun principle? -- DHeadshot 09:13, 14 August 2009 (GMT)

Ok, article renamed. Removed the unofficial name, though I mentioned in the article as a popular name for it.--Sega381 02:21, 15 August 2009 (GMT)
Wow! You've put a massive amount of work into this! I'm amazed and humbled by your diligence... -- DHeadshot 15:03, 16 August 2009 (GMT)
No problem... I haven't done much in the wiki lately, so it was time to improve something...--Sega381 01:36, 18 August 2009 (GMT)
