Changed gameplay mods are mods which differ largely from the ordinary Keen Vorticons / Galaxy gameplay.

In most of these mods are less till none references left to the original Commander Keen games. Some of these games don't even feature Commander Keen as the main Character. But the uniqueness of the gameplay can seen in all kinds of things. For instance: motion and movement can be restricted or expanded, the gravity might be completely changed, maybe the frame scrolls smoothly and rapidly in one direction, a certain amount of items need to be collected, and finally utilizing the worldmap behaviour or all kinds of puzzles could be in focus.

Yet all mods in this category have substantial similarity in a distinctive gameplay derived from heavy patching.
