Description
This is a "Bomberman" based game in C++ that brings "Bomberman" gameplay to Commander Keen universe - with related characters, themes and more.
History
- Started by DoomJedi in February 06, 2013, the project went over the years through numerous development attempts/iterations under a few engines - C++, Game Maker, one of which with the help of Dr. Kylestein, who eventually abandoned the project at some point sending it to a long freeze.
- The project was revived on January 06, 2025 by DoomJedi with K1n9_Duk3 joining to help on coding/development side, based on old coding core made by unknown coder, that DoomJedi kept on his computer since the 90s (and already added to it since random theme and character support).
- Original source was translated from spanish, restructured, fixed and vastly improved since, mostly by K1n9_Duk3.
- Since the revival - latest release is alpha 2.0, with many new characters added since to the original download.
- The project is in active development.
- In April 2025 DoomJedi streamed live making new characters (with Aseprite software) on "Team Raycast" discord channel which was opened for this project.
Features
- Menu - including character and control selection.
- Ability to set/play multiple rounds to win.
- 2 basic classic powerups - Bomb+ and Blast+.
- Up to 4 player support (2 keyboard players + 2 joystick players).
- Joystick support with autodetection.
- Customizable characters and themes via external files/subfolders, with ability to scan them into the game from the menu.
- Set of 59 playable characters (and still growing) from across Keen 1 to "Keen 9" (aka Battle of the Brains) and notable Keen mods.
